Tomac Winery

Discover the secret of award-winning wines from Tomac winery in the Plešivica region! A century-old tradition in winemaking with a unique philosophy.

Located in the picturesque Plešivica wine-growing region, the Tomac family has been engaged in winemaking for over 100 years, a tradition past through generations.

The first bottles were filled in 1987, and in 1996 the family received great recognition for their Chardonnay in France (Chardonnay du Monde) and for their Classic 1997 sparkling wine a silver medal in Paris at the Vinalies d’argent. Since then, vineyards have been planted and production increased, totaling 6 hectares.

Tradition and a unique style have been maintained in the production of wine. In 2006, they decided to use a very old production and philosophy of wine – the production of wine in qvevris and choose to produce wines following the rules of biodynamic production. The qvevris were ordered from Georgia and buried in the ground. And in 2009 they filled the bottles. Our philosophy of wine production is a combination of vineyards, the year a wine was made, and our family as winegrowers and cellarmen.

The wines are produced from varieties:

  • Rhein Riesling,
  • Chardonnay,
  • Pinot Noir,
  • Portugieser,
  • and old, obscure Plešivica native grape varieties.

Visits to the winery are possible with prior notice.
